Chile makes progress toward gender diversity, renewable energy SLB targets in 2024

The Republic of Chile made progress towards its sustainability-linked bond (SLB) targets related to gender diversity on boards and non-conventional renewable energy use in its electric system, as per its 2025 SLB report.
Notably, the share of women directors on boards rose to 22.1% in 2024 from 15.9% in 2023 and 14% in 2022. Chile's SLB Framework calls for 40% women's representation on boards by the end of 2031.
There is a bill under discussion in Congress to introduce a mandatory quota aimed at increasing women's participation on boards of companies regulated by the CMF. The bill would cap the representation of overrepresented gender on company boards at 80% for the first three years, lowering the cap to 70% in years four to six, and to 60% thereafter.
