What is the Board Director Best Practices Training Workshop?

The workshop will focus on proven best practices and real-life case studies, which will help the audience to improve as highly effective board directors making a strong high-value contribution to their own board effectiveness, governance and performance. Special emphasis will be given to challenges and dilemmas faced in emerging market company boards. 

This will be an interactive training with group Q&A and discussions on key topics. The workshop is designed for both experienced board directors looking for a refresher on best practices and emerging approaches, as well as board directors taking on their first board director roles. Section 1: Overview of recent international developments and trends in Board dynamics, effectiveness, and Corporate Governance covering developing and developed markets.

Section 2: Corporate governance fundamentals – Roles, Responsibilities and Best Practices

• Best practices for optimising healthy board tension and conflict. Strengthening the board and executive team’s ability to “enter/leave the zone of un-comfortable debate” and face up to “any elephants in the room”.

Section 3: Characteristics of high-performing boards, directors, and the emerging progressive partnership model between the Non-Executive Directors and Executive Team.

• Overview of emerging strategy frameworks for a progressive approach to the Executive team and Non-Executive directors’ effective partnership in developing and managing strategy.
• Understanding the five elements of the trust equation of the board and how this impacts the board’s effectiveness.
• Key trends of how Boards are evolving their employee engagement model to ensure the “voice and considerations of the employees” are sensibly integrated.

The webinar will be interactive and will incorporate participant engagement/Q&A after each section. The conclusion will include a summary and wrap-up.
