Impact Boards EM's "Virtual Boardroom" series are an opportunity for our members and guests to meet virtually for networking and sharing knowledge on specific board themes.
Our next discussion in this series will focus on Board Packs: The Strategic Role of AI and New Tools in Driving Organisational Success.
Board packs have traditionally been the way boards understand what is happening across the organisation at a given point in time. They are formal documents with legal regulatory and fiduciary importance, so they need to be prepared with great care. They should also help the board evaluate strategy and assess risk in a clear and practical way.
In the past, creating board packs involved time consuming data collection and manual reporting. Digital tools improved how they are formatted and shared, but challenges with data infrastructure, data collection and reporting still limited how effective they could be.
Now the rise of AI offers the potential for much stronger board packs. In theory, these could show past performance, track developments in real time and project future scenarios that support strategic decisions.
The key question is how to use AI and modern tools in a way that truly improves the relevance and usefulness of board packs.
